Music is for everyone: young and old. It’s something I believe strongly, which is why I was so delighted to discover Japan’s new pop sensation: KBG84.
KBG84 stands for Kohamajima Ba-chan Gasshodan, or Kohama Island Granny Choir. 84 is both the average age of its members (you need to be at least 80 to join) and a play on the name of one of Japan’s super-popular (and much younger) groups, AKB48. This summer, they gave a concert in Tokyo, and there are plans for more in the works.
Good luck, KBG84!
